Jordanie is een land dat is gelegen in gelegen Midden-Oosten en grenst in het oosten aan Israël en de Westelijke Jordaanoever met als grens de rivier de Jordaan en de Dode Zee. Daarnaast heeft het land als buurlanden Syrië in het noorden, Irak in het noordoosten en Saoedi-Arabië in het zuidoosten. Via de Golf van Akaba heeft Jordanie een smalle toegang tot de Rode Zee. De hoofdstad is Amman. In totaal heeft het naar schatting een kleine 11 miljoen inwoners waaronder veel vluchtelingen. Het is een Parlementaire monarchie met een koning als staatshoofd. De officiële taal is Arabisch. Er is slechts een beperkt aantal schrijvers en schrijfsters uit Jordanië bekend over de landsgrenzen.
