Cameron Crowe was born July 13, 1957 in Palm Springs, California. Crowe is also an acclaimed filmmaker who has written and directed films including Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Say Anything…, Singles, Jerry Maguire, Vanilla Sky, and Almost Famous (for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay). Daniel Okrent had careers as a book and magazine editor and was the first public editor of the New York Times. He is the prize-winning author of six books, including The Guarded Gate: Bigotry, Eugenics, and the Law That Kept Two Generations of Jews, Italians, and Last Call: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition. He lives in New York City and on Cape Cod.

Frank Sinatra Jr. was born on January 10, 1944, in Jersey City, the son of famous singer Frank Sinatra and Nancy Barbota. He was active as a singer, conductor, and actor. In 1963, he was kidnapped by a gang led by Barry Keenan and held captive in a hotel in Stateline, Nevada. After his father paid the kidnappers a $240,000 ransom, he was released two days later. On March 16, 2016, Frank Sinatra Jr. died in a Daytona Beach hospital from a heart attack he had suffered earlier. He was 72 years old.

The brothers experienced their golden age from 1973 to 1983 with the addition of three younger brothers. With three instrumentalists, including composer and arranger Chris Jasper, The Isleys became a self-contained band and released a string of platinum albums. Over the years, The Isley Brothers have adapted the group, adding and losing members over time, but have always included a brother. Today, Ernie and Ronald Isley are still performing, keeping The Isley Brothers a household name and remaining a serious force in pop culture. The remarkable longevity of The Isley Brothers has solidified their status as one of America’s most influential musical groups.

Trenton Bailey is a historian from Memphis, Tennessee, who currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. An honors graduate of Morehouse College, he earned his PhD in humanities with a concentration in African American studies from Clark Atlanta University. Bailey has taught courses in African history, African American history, world history, and funk music, specifically. He was coordinator for the Morehouse Oral History Project and has done extensive research on the history of Morehouse College. Bailey is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and various organizations related to Black American life and culture. He is author of Do You Remember? Celebrating Fifty Years of Earth, Wind & Fire, published by University Press of Mississippi.
