Charco Press is een Schotse uitgeverij gevestigd in Edinburgh die is gespecialiseerd in Latijns Amerikaanse romans en andere literatuur in Engelse vertaling. Charco betekent ‘plas’ in het Spaans. Het is ook een uitdrukking die in sommige Latijns-Amerikaanse landen wordt gebruikt om de Atlantische Oceaan mee aan te duiden. Cruzar el charco betekent dus ‘de plas oversteken’ en is een manier om aan te duiden wanneer iemand naar het buitenland gaat en met name als deze persoon naar een ander continent reist.
