Michael Ondaatje was born on 12 September 1943 in Colombo Sri Lanka and lives in Toronto. In 1962. He emigrated to Montreal, Quebec in Canada. Ondaatje has written seven novels and more then ten books with poetry. The English Patient won the Booker Prize in 1992 and was made into an Oscar-winning film directed by Anthony Minghella.
