Tanya Tagaq Split Tooth
Tanya Tagaq is op 5 mei 1975 geboren in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, in het noorden van Canada. Na op Sir John Franklin High School in Yellowknife de middelbare school te hebben doorlopen ging ze visual arts studeren aan de Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax. Hier ontwikkelde ze haar eigen vorm van Inuit keelzang die normaal gesproken door twee vrouwen wordt uitgevoerd. Ze trad steeds vaker op tijdens Canadese folkfestivals en kreeg wereldwijde aandacht. Ze heeft ook opgetreden in Nederland.
Ze heeft inmiddels een aantal albums uitgebracht en is daarnaast ook aan de slag gegaan als schrijfster. Haar debuutroman Split Tooth verscheen oorspronkelijk in 2018 en werd goed ontvangen.
