Susan Mulcahy started at the New York Post as a copygirl while still in college. She worked at “Page Six” from 1978 to 1985, including three years as editor, before moving to Newsday to write a rival column. She has also written for The New Yorker and The New York Times.

Frank DiGiacomo worked as a “Page Six” freelancer in the late 1980s and became an editor of the column from 1991 to 1993. He has since worked as a writer and editor, covering media and the entertainment business, for Vanity Fair, The Hollywood Reporter, and Billboard, where he is currently an executive editor.

The Countess brings with her an aura of European sophistication and a hint of scandal, having left her husband and claimed her independence.

Her sorrowful eyes, her tragic worldliness and her air of unapproachability attract the sensitive Newland and, almost against their will, a passionate bond develops between them. But Archer’s life has no place for passion and, with society on the side of May and all she stands for, he finds himself drawn into a bitter conflict between love and duty.

Edith Wharton was born in New York City on January 24, 1862. Edith married Teddy Wharton, who was 12 years older. Edith became a prolific writer and produced over 40 books in 40 years.

Edith divorced Teddy in 1912, having no immediate heirs, and never married again. Her novels became so popular that Ms. Wharton was able to live comfortably on her earnings the rest of her life. Edith continued to write until a stroke took her life on 11 August 1937 in Saint-Brice-sous-Forêt,  France.

Wallace Thurman (16 August 1902, Salt Lake City, Utah – 22 Wallace Thurman The Blacker the Berry first edition form 1929December 1934, New York City) was a Afro-American writer during the Harlem Renaissance. He died at the age of only 32 as reult of tuberculosis, probably caused by alcoholism. He worked as a ghostwriter, a publisher, and editor and wrote novels, plays, and articles. In 1926, he became the editor of The Messenger, a socialist journal addressed to black people and publised stories of Afro-American writer Langston Hughes.

Steve Cavanagh (1976, Belfast, Noord-Ierland) groeide op in Belfast voordat hij op zijn 18e naar Dublin vertrok om rechten te studeren. Cavanagh werkte enkele jaren als advocaat burgerrecht, maar is momenteel fulltime schrijver. Zijn boeken verschijnen in meer dan 15 landen.

In Rob Harts Huurmoordenaars Anonymous is Mark op zoek naar een betere toekomst. Een thriller met onvergetelijke personages, actie, droge humor en onvoorspelbare plotwendingen. Mark is de gevaarlijkste huurmoordenaar ter wereld. Maar wanneer hij hardhandig leert dat zijn werk hem meer monster dan mens maakt, begint hij een 12-stappenplan om te stoppen. Zijn verleden blijft hem achtervolgen en al snel wordt hij dodelijk belaagd door mysterieuze aanvallers. Samen met Astrid, de enige persoon die hij nog kan vertrouwen, en zijn kat P. Zegt iemand. Waar ist werk van. Ik weet niet van lamplicht. Maar Wave is een Amerikaanse presser. Gail Scott. Canadees. Van lamplicht weet ik het niet. Van neurose misschien. Grotestadsproza. De dingen, en altijd wat te doen.

Waarom zou je nog bolsjewieken willen zeggen?

Of Viktor Shklovsky. Bijvoorbeeld.

Het werk van. Je weet niks van lamplicht. Je weet van meubelmuziek. Een gedacht van Erik Satie. Achtergrond muziek is. Meubelmuziek. Achtergrondmuziek is meubel. Meubel ≠ lamplicht. Je denkt. Al kan een licht eerder horen tot. Tot de meubels. Als muziek kan. In een gedacht van Erik Satie. De muziek teruggedrongen tot meubelstuk. Ik kan peinzen. Muziek is me een bed geweest en een stoel. Op muziek heb ik kunnen uitrusten. Of slapen in muziek. Maar misschien is dat niet wat Satie bedoelt. Misschien bedoelde hij een kastje dat daar staat en dat niemand gebruikt, en niemand weet eigenlijk nog wat erin zit. Misschien bedoelt Satie iets wat geen speciale aandacht meer behoeft. Of krijgt.

Hoe rusteloosheid te vangen. Hoe vang je rusteloosheid in proza. Korte zinnen. Telegrammen van. Brein. Breingrammen. Flitsen de wereld in. De grammatica moet eraan geloven maar dat maakt niet uit. Want het moet de wereld in. Observaties. Associaties. Gedachten. Het moet de wereld in.

Zoo, of brieven niet over de liefde.

Ostranenie. Ontmeubelmuziek. De muziek willen ontmeubelen. Het proza ontmeubelen. De gedachten, het zijn. Ontmeubelen.

Gekleurder tegen een witte achtergrond.

Zichtbaar maken. Diversiteit. Grenzen beslechten. In taal. In genre. In gender. Het experiment en de revolutie. Omwenteling. Kant. Een radikaal ander spreken. En denken. Het bestaande past niet meer. Obama president, of nog net niet. Hoop. Politiek. Zegt iemand waar ist werk van. Zeg ik hier ist werk van. Wat er toe doet. Wat er toe deed. Wat er toe doen zal. Je merkt het omdat het uitput. In goede zin. De lezer rent. Blijft rennen. De veelheid van de bladzijde. Na bladzijde.

Vertikale taal. Gefractioneerd subject. Prosodie.

Een onveranderlijke substantie of een zelf met een gender treedt op door de ordening van eigenschappen langs cultureel ingestelde lijnen van samenhang.

Onkultureel. Onsamenhang. Het Radikaal Andere. Noords.

Breken (met) (eigen) identiteit door te breken met sintaktiese verwachtingen. Kunst is denken vanuit de toekomst. Weer een gedacht. Weer niet van Satie. Maar van Morton. Timothy.

Wie bestuurt dit panopticum eigenlijk?

Hetero-normatief gezinsleven.

Of dan Camille Roy: een picknick met Carla. Ze brengt rozemarijnbrood mee, en verbluffende pistaches / ze leest over utopieën / ze raakt aan en gelukkig drijf ik huizenhoor de lucht in.

Gewoonstleven dat nooit gewoon maar leven is. Politiek geladen. Kulturele oorlogen. De ontmaskering van Amerika als klassenmaatschappij. Alles wat poëzie wat geen politiek is. Of etentjes. Of lopen door de stad. De literatuur die door dat alles verweven zit. Overal woorden. Op straat liggen zinsflarden voor het oprapen, en Gail ziet. (praat om één of andere reden over zichzelf in de derde persoon) (wat eerst aanstellerig aan doet) (dan ziekelijk) (dan aandoenlijk of schattig of charmant) (doorhalen wat niet van toepassing is. De woorden kunnen van anderen zijn. Anderen kunnen van enige faam zijn. Als hoop wanhoop wordt. Als Obama Trump wordt. Staat fascisme om de hoek? Nog niet. Bepaalde objectieve voorwaarden ontbreken. Blijft vrijelijk stromen. De verbeelding. Maar je zult altijd blijven schrijven in zinnen.
