His novels include The Child in Time, which won the 1987 Whitbread Novel of the Year Award. The Cement Garden, Enduring Love; Amsterdam, which won the 1998 Booker Prize Prize; Atonement, Saturday, On Chesil Beach, Solar, Sweet Tooth, The Children Act, Nutshell and Machines Like Me, which was a number-one bestseller. Atonement, Enduring Love, The Children Act and On Chesil Beach have all been adapted for the big screen.

Ze wil opnieuw beginnen in de kleine gemeenschap, maar stuit op achterdocht en terughoudendheid. Nelleke Noordervliet is geboren op 6 november 1945 in Rotterdam, 1945. Ze is alom geprezen als een van de veelzijdigste, stilistisch vaardigste schrijvers in de hedendaagse Nederlandse literatuur. Ze studeerde Nederlands in Leiden en Utrecht. Rond 1980 begon ze aan een fictief dagboek van Multatuli’s eerste vrouw, barones Everdina Huberta van Wijnbergen. Het boek verscheen uiteindelijk in 1987 als ‘Tine of De dalen waar het leven woont’. Vervolgens publiceerde ze veelgeprezen romans als ‘Het oog van de engel’, ‘De naam van de vader’, ‘Uit het paradijs’, ‘Pelican Bay’, ‘Snijpunt’ en ‘Zonder noorden komt niemand thuis’, verhalen en novellen die bijeengebracht werden in ‘Veeg teken’.

Behalve in romans en verhalen uitte Noordervliets belangstelling voor geschiedenis in verschillende non-fictie boeken. In 2018 werd haar oeuvre bekroond met de Constantijn Huygens-prijs.

Op 20 mei 2119 nam ik de nachtboot vanaf Port Marlborough, zodat ik aan het eind van de middag aankwam op de kleine kade bij Meantwrog-under-Sea. Camille has always preferred animals to people. Emma Sloley worked as an editor at Harper’s Bazaar Australia before moving to New York to pursue a career as a travel journalist and author. Her short fiction and creative non-fiction has appeared in many literary magazines and her debut novel, Disaster’s Children, was published in 2019. Emma currently divides her time between California and the city of Mérida, Mexico.

Thousands, even millions, of birds are descending on London – gathering, sitting, watching. But soon the feathered invaders start to show their sinister side, attacking, maiming, and even killing in incidents of tremendous brutality and violence. Are they an example of nature gone horribly awry, or a paranormal manifestation? Only one thing is certain: their aim is the destruction of mankind, and nobody has any idea how to stop them.

Frank Baker’s avian apocalypse novel went largely unnoticed when first published, but after the release of Alfred Hitchcock’s film in 1963, Baker threatened to sue, believing the director had borrowed from his book. The text of this definitive edition of Baker’s classic is taken from his own copy of the book, in which he made hundreds of changes and corrections, never published until now. This edition also features an introduction by Hitchcock scholar Ken Mogg.

Frank Baker was born on 22 May 1908 in Hornsey, london. He was British writer of novels and short stories. His books that stand out, even today,  are the novels The Birds (1936) and Miss Hargreaves (1940) and his memoir, I Follow But Myself (1968). Frank Baker died on 6 November 1983 in Porthleven, Cornwall of cancer at the age of 75.
